Size: 20 mm to end of wings
Coming to light on our front porch, bright red on the dorsal surface of the abdomen, 17-18 mm long to end of abdomen.

Now that I have seen some specimens, it is my opinion that this is probably not the correct genus for this curious species - in some ways it looks more like the tropical genus Hypaepa.

Wow! That's a big one.
We have a big one in the guide under Alphina here, but that doesn't look like yours.

 
We have looked at the Fulgorids
in the guide but none seem to quite match the markings on this one. The size did astonish us. We are hoping Andy Hamilton might have some ideas about it. There were two on our porch and both died. I saved the one that fell prey to a spider.
