lichnanthe ursina - Lichnanthe ursina - Female
Marin County, California, USA
May 7, 2003
This female has black hairs compared to the males golden hairs(cd), and also has less cd than that of the male. When they fly they immitate a bee called melissodes pallidisignata which also flies over the sand dunes. sometimes I caught the bee thinking it was the beetle.
