Chrysops calvus, female. Several species of all black Chrysops. Originally id'd by me as carbonarius, but since looking at the full size image I've changed my opinion. The yellow thoracic stripe is indicative of calvus .

In that case...
I'll make a quick empty guide page for that species and move this over. Then the right scientific name will appear.
