The host plant is goldenrod.

You have some great pictures and finds - thanks for sharing them! Just to be nit-picky, I would call the flower not a host plant (generally used to refer to caterpillar food) but a nectar plant. Goldenrod is always a great one for bugs, isn't it?

You'll find the scientific name shows up automatically when you post to the guide - no need to use it in your title.
