Scymnus larva on pigweed - Scymnus caurinus

Scymnus larva on pigweed - Scymnus caurinus
Delano, Tulare County, California, USA
July 12, 2007
Size: 2 mm
This was collected oh pigweed together with adult S. caurinus. They eat aphids.

The larvae are orange underneath the wax. Sometimes they crawl up on grapevines, where they can be confused with Scymnobius sordidus, which are yellow underneath and prey on mealybugs.
