Pterotus obscuripennis - male

Pterotus obscuripennis - Male
Mt. Hamilton, CA, Santa Clara County, California, USA
May 8, 2006

Male.
Very nice image of a seldom-seen critter! This is the male. The female retains her larval appearance at maturity, a phenomenon not uncommon in fireflies, and the norm in glowworms (Phengodidae family).
