Golden Dung Fly - Scathophaga stercoraria

Golden Dung Fly - Scathophaga stercoraria
near Ailsa Craig, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada
April 14, 2004
Size: about 10 mm
Patrolling a patch of bloodroot in deciduous woods; ID by Dr. Jeff Skevington. Every half a minute or so it flew to another plant, usually landing on the leaves. There were numerous honey bees and small flies visiting the bloodroot flowers but this guy didn't catch any of them while I was there.
