Tortoise beetle hatchling - Chilocorus bipustulatus

Tortoise beetle hatchling - Chilocorus bipustulatus
Manteca, San joaquin County, California, USA
October 21, 2007
Size: 1/8"
I have posted the Tortoise beetle a couple of months ago feeding on the Toyon bush , but I had never seen the larvae stage . I saw this little Beetle who is not quite colored up yet next to a shell of which I assume it just metamophised from . I thought this was interesting since now I know what the pre-Tortoise beetle looks like . Thanks for any comments , Beth

yes, lady beetle

When it colors up
I think you'll decide it's a ladybeetle.
