Beetle
Lake Kegonsa State Park, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
October 20, 2007
I don't know where to start on this one. It appears to be a beetle and it looks to be an adult, but it was incredibly small--you can see its size relative to the Mult-colored Asian Lady Beetle next to it. They were pretty much sitting side by side. I couldn't see it as well with my eye as with the camera, so there is no more to add than what is seen, except to say it was on a large rock on the lakeshore on a warm autumn day (70 degrees when this taken in the middle of the afternoon). Also on the rock were several of the lady beetles, a very small spider, and a couple other insects I'm also currently trying to identify. Thanks in advance.

Lathridiidae
maybe Melanophthalma.

agree again
with Boris that this is probably Melanophthalma but definitely a Latridiid in the Corticariinae.
