Leaf hopper - Texananus oregonus

Leaf hopper - Texananus oregonus
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
October 22, 2007
Size: ~4mm.
This guy came to the black light last night, maybe another Aphrophora ? Possibly Aphrophora cribrata?

Texananus oregonus
Those long, spiny hind legs are characteristic of leafhoppers, not spittlebugs.

There are four species of Texananus that have a black face (just showing as a streak along the head margin between the eyes) but only two of these occur in CA, and of the two, T. vermiculatus is paler.

Thank you Dr. Hamilton
Thanks for IDing this guy.
