Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Say's original spelling was dimiata, and up until 2000 I would have said this is correct (and have used it). But under the 2000 version of the Rules of nomenclature it seems to require that prevailing usage be maintained. I think the only published source that reverted to using dimiata was Henry & Froeschner. So I have gone back to using dimidiata. (Dr. Donald B. Thomas, Jr., pers.comm. to =v= on Sep. 15, 2009)
Range
Reported from the entire United States, southern Canada and northern Mexico by Thomas and Yonke (1981).
Food
Many different possible host plants are listed for this species, including birch (
Betula spp.), bearberry (
Arctostaphylos spp.) and chokeberry (
Photinia spp.).
