this beetle landed on my windshield then slid down on the wipers as I pulled out of parking. Just had time for a couple of pics before it flew

I vaguely recall posts of large water bugs out of the water
Recall falls short of finding a name, however. Note those swimmer's legs!

Backswimmer.
This is an adult backswimmer in the genus Notonecta. Aquatic insects that can fly often mistake reflective objects (like automobiles) for water. Ouch!
