egg cases on dogwood leaf

egg cases on dogwood leaf
Bloomington, Indiana, Monroe County, Indiana, USA
October 16, 2007
Size: 1 mm long X .75 mm wide
I wasn't sure if anyone can i.d. egg cases without a picture of the insect, but thought I'd try. Each chamber in this chain of cases is 1 X .75 mm. The entire chain is 50 mm long. The walls are made up of hexagonal scales forming a honeycomb pattern. The walls are translucent in some cases, but overall appear like shiny copper. It's firmly attached to the midrib on the underside of a Cornus florida leaf.
