What is this????

What is this????
Syracuse, Onondoga County, New York, USA
October 28, 2007
Size: maybe half inch
Id just like to know what this is because it was near my son when our dog found it. He is four months and it scares me to think theres a strange bug i cant identify. It was on the bumpers we put on our bed for when hes on our bed and id like to know what it was so i know whether its dangerous or not. His crib is in the same room :(

It's a diseased fly
- the bulging white stuff is fungus. I think they are probably dead by the time it goes this far. Harmless to you - curtains for the fly!
