Three individuals were seen about three pm on a warm, sunny afternoon. One specimen seemed to walk on water. The trail through the Fall foliage was busy.

That's a mature male A. behle
That's a mature male A. behlei. Oh, and sometimes Brachypelma will sneak up into AZ but it's really rare.

The site does not distinguish the aphonopelmas very much. This was a beautiful creature. zipcodezoo.com listed 39 different aphonopelmas once i knew what to search for. Thank you!

 
Is there a way to make a new
Is there a way to make a new species page for this one? The females look fairly similar in terms of color, just with a stouter body and no modified palps.

I have asked the site coordinator about this. I see several other similar photos and so more people would have clearer identiies for their photos. Plus we would be able to learn more about them.

Yes.
I believe that Aphonopelma is the only genus of tarantulas in AZ, though I could be mistaken....
