What the heck am I - 1 - Hemileuca maia

What the heck am I - 1 - Hemileuca maia
Cass County, Texas, USA
May 24, 2007
Size: 3" at least
Obviously it is a caterpillar but I need help with the species identification.

Hemileuca maia
Hemileuca maia is the only member of Hemileuca that ranges that far northeast in Texas.

When we blow up the image
We think we see those special stinging spines of Hemileuca, so that's what we would suggest. Unfortunately we're not good at telling the species apart.

Moved
Thanks for the info. I have moved this image to the correct guide I hope, lol.
