Orange-looking beetle - Ampedus apicatus

Orange-looking beetle - Ampedus apicatus
Porcupine Mountains State Park, Ontonagon County, Michigan, USA
June 18, 2007
Found under shelf fungus on a tree. A medium-sized beetle.

Moved
Moved from Ampedus.

I confirm
it is the same genus (Ampedus) at least.

Ampedus apicatus
Based on elytral color, knotched apical spot that is expanded to the elytral margins above the apex, polished pronotum with fine punctures and comparison with specimens from Ontario, Canada in the Wagner/Scott Collection.

Not an expert
I just thought it looks a bit like this click beetle
