Bees in copula - male - female

Bees in copula - Male Female
Lake Roosevelt, Ferry County, Washington, USA
August 31, 2006
It was a wild day on a sandy beach for these bees in the waning days of summer-- many, many more were on the prowl. Any ID suggestions would be much appreciated.

Very nice
It would be nice to see one or two more images if you have some that show different angles or other details.

More images, more details
These particular specimens were there and gone fast and all photos but this one turned out poorly-- as I usually do I deleted them on the first pass. I was covering a lot of ground but I might be able to dig up a shot or two of similar specimens from that locale.

Sigh!
We are like fishermen. We always have stories about the one that got away.

Indeed
...but I did get another that I just posted...I'd link it but it's a different specimen on a different day.

Leaf-cutting Bees
As indicated by broadened, white foretarsi of the male.

Thanks Richard!
