Hairy Rove Beetle - Creophilus maxillosus
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA

Size: 12 - 18 mm
Taken from roadside carrion (skunk). Creophilus maxillosus is said to feed on maggots, although my photo subjects are making do with moistened dry dogfood. Image shows one with wings tucked away, one with wings extended.
