little green Grasshopper - Chimarocephala pacifica - Male
Pt.Reyes, ? County, California, USA

Size: 5/8 "
In the rain among the dry earth colored grasses , I saw this little green Grasshopper . I wanted to take more photos to get a better shot , but the rain was pretty hard and my camera was getting wet . This is the first time that I have seen this type and the fact that it is bright green may help in it's identification , thanks sincerely Beth

Painted meadow grasshopper.
This is no doubt the nymph of the painted meadow grasshopper. Chortophaga does not range into California as far as I know. Making guide page for now, subject to correction later.

Chortophaga Grasshopper nymph???
I suspect that it is a nymph of something in the Chortophaga genus.

I think that range may be the key. Range for Northern and Southern seems wrong. Maybe this is mendocino? Wait for a grasshopper expert.
Mendocino seems unlikely due to possible rarity, but who knows.
