Fly or Bee - Spilomyia fusca
Thornton, New Hampshire, USA
August 10, 2007
Is this a bee, or is it a fly, or something else?

Thanks
Thanks to all, this really is a beautiful fly.

Syrphid Fly
I think. It certainly looks a lot like these.

Spilomyia fusca, seconded.
Eyes, among other things, are very distinctive.

Genus Spilomyia..........
very distinctive indeed! Beautiful are the flies in this genus :^)
I'd like to have an image of every one someday!

Scott

When you get a chance, check Erista*linus.
