American Dog Tick - Dermacentor variabilis - male

American Dog Tick - Dermacentor variabilis - Male
Harvard, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
April 23, 2005
Size: 6mm
Is this a Dog Tick?

Ticks
We are up to our necks in ticks in TN! You found this in MA?

Plenty of ticks here too
The deer ticks and dog ticks are out in good numbers around Massachusetts now. Any time in the grass usually results in a few crawling up my pants legs.

Dermacentor variabilis male?
looks like the one on....http://www.entomology.cornell.edu/MedEnt/TickBioFS/TickBioFS.html They have it spelled Deracentor on their site.
