White-Banded Flower Fly For Illinois In November - Eristalis dimidiata - Male
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
November 12, 2007
Size: Approx. 3/4 in. long
I assume this is some kind of fly, judging from the wing shape. Any confirmation?

Thanks to John R. Maxwell, I think I've narrowed this species down to something that was called a White-Banded Flower Fly - Eristalis dimidiata, in the Guide.

Male?

Thanks!
Thanks, that's just the area I needed to look for further identification. I believe it's a male, too. I'm moving him to his new home in the Guide.
