Perhaps a fungus gnat?

A Wood Gnat (Sylvicola sp., Anisopodidae)
Spotted wings help to recognize these Bibionomorph Nematocerans.

cool!
My first Wood Gnat! The backyard bio project continues to grow! :)

Bibionomorph Nematocerans?? Try saying that with your mouth full of breakfast cereal!! :)

Thanks for the ID, Richard, and thanks as always for jumping in there also Ron (I thought it was some sort of midge but was to chicken to say anything)!

I am fearless, but erratic.
I have yet to shoot a fungus gnat, but am hopeful. This one does look like a midge, but they have those really long front legs.
