Who is this? - Araneus saevus
Loudonville, Ashland County, Ohio, USA
September 1, 2007
Size: Large
This large spider was resting about 5 feet off the ground in a bush. It didn't seem to mind my leaning over it from a second-story porch railing to photograph it. It really was a bit creepy. (Sorry spider lovers) I'd love to know what it is. Thanks.

Moved from Orb Weavers. You have another one you found here

Though it was kind of hard to see the shoulders on this one.

Ah! Thanks, Lynette.
I'd forgotten about this spider. I see your point about the 'shoulders'. Happy Spring :)

Thanks!

Yes
but don't take my word for it. Please wait for an expert, Jeff Hollenbeck among others.
