Striped Bark Scorpion - Centruroides vittatus

Striped Bark Scorpion - Centruroides vittatus
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
November 19, 2007
Size: 1/2"
The pointy end.

Here's a really stupid question....
When the tail is all coiled up like this how do they keep from stinging themselves....or at least poking themselves with the point of the stinger....which, in effect, is the equivalent of stinging themselves ?
I feel woozy....
