I have no idea what this might be. Seemed to be in good health and was a strong flyer. Any ideas? TIA!

I really wonder why these Chrysopilus males are doing this, it looks very odd to me and I can not think of any other fly sitting like this... I have never seen this stance in nature, although I have seen many chrysopilus - and I am really happy and amazed that so many pics exist on bugguide!

Snipe fly.

Guess i gave up...
...too soon. I usually am able to identify my subjects using all of the information here and whatsthatbug.com, however, this one stumped me. This pictures can be frassed (i think that's the term) due to their low quality.

It was a very windy day and hard to get a good focus on a moving target.

All that and 100 more excuses if anybody wants to hear them :)
