Moth on Shed Wall - Palpita magniferalis
Near Ruraldale, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
April 20, 2005
Several individuals of this species came to my black light. This individual had his abdomen raised in the air. I measured this one as it was posed: about 1.75 cm at the widest, that is, along the rear.

Palpita?
Looks like Palpita magniferalis or a member of that genus. It seems to be rather variable.
