unknown termite species - Reticulitermes
Stumpy Lake, Virginia Beach County, Virginia, USA
Termites - but what species? Found under bark in Virginia Beach this past August.

Subterranean termites?
I would strongly suspect they are a species of Reticulitermes, the most overwhelmingly common genus encountered in the eastern U.S. I would rule out subterranean termites first, anyway.

Thanks!
It's very nice to have had "the Pope" look at my photo!
Many thanks, Eric.
