This specimen had bright scarlet hindwings

Photographed near Curlew Lake, ~10 miles Northeast of Republic, ~20 Miles south of the Canadian Border, ~150 miles east of the Cascade mountains, ~2100 ft in elevation.

Arphia pseudonietana
Here in AZ often nearly black, but variable.

 
Agreed.
There are other western red-winged Arphia, but the black abdomen is essentially specific to A. pseudonietana.
