Ocnaea sequoia - male

Ocnaea sequoia - Male
Ash Mountain, Tulare County, California, USA
May 25, 1985
Size: 10-12 mm
Ocnaea are easily separated from Eulonchus by the lack of the mouthparts for feeding at flowers. They are parasitoids on Mygalomorph spiders. Adults are rarely encountered since they don't visit flowers. They are also strong, fast fliers.
