Illinois data point - Neocenchrea heidemanni

This is a curious one. Dead ringer for this species but the only palm tree in our area is a little sago palm our bedroom - a memento from Florida. I haul it out every summer so it is conceivable it could be the source but there is no litter around it (my wife sees to that). Ideas?

Cycads
A sago palm isn't a palm at all- it's a very primitive conifer. As for the insect- I don't have an ID, but your ID is definitely not solid enough to post it here in the guide. I would recommend moving it to ID Request, or much higher up on the taxonomic tree until an expert confirms or refutes the ID

Neocenchrea heidemanni
This species looks a lot like Omolicna fulva, but has longer, narrower wings with fewer crossveins. Sorry, I have no information on the host plant, or on what the nymphs look like; but it is certainly not limited to palms, because the species is found from DC to KS.
