Biting Larva - Chrysoperla

Biting Larva - Chrysoperla
Norfolk, Virginia, USA
December 8, 2007
Size: ~9mm
Last time I saw one of these some years ago, it had crawled under my shirtsleeve and latched onto my arm. It wasn't painful, but I did notice it. This thing must prey on ants with those long pincers.

We often get reports of these biting people.

A Lacewing Larva!!
Interesting how such a nasty little critter turns into a dainty little zephyr :^)

Thanks Will and Hannah,

Scott

Dining preferences
Don't know about ants, but I've seen them noshing on ladybird larvae and also aphids.

Something
Something in the Orders Megaloptera or Neuroptera (more likely), maybe an Antlion larvae?
