Eulonchus nsp. #1 - Eulonchus

Eulonchus nsp. #1 - Eulonchus
Piute Mountain, Kern County, California, USA
June 5, 2005
Size: ca. 12 mm
Ev Schlinger has assigned the name Eulonchus sierraensis to this species (in manuscript). It is found in the upper chaparral and yellow pine forest. I have collected it from Fresno to Kern County in the southern Sierra Nevada. The proboscis does not extend beyond the length of the abdomen. Note the prominent band of pale pubescence on the abdomen.
