Molted body parts - Chelicerae, dorsal view - Phidippus audax - female

Molted body parts - Chelicerae, dorsal view - Phidippus audax - Female
Columbia County, Florida, USA
I saved the body parts when she molted from juvenile to subadult and managed to get some decent image stacks from it. Spider was sent to me by Don Cadle.

This dorsal view of the chelicerae is from thirteen exposures combined with Helicon Focus Pro. Integument was placed over the tip of thin solder after thinly coating the tip with rubber cement, and then suspended about six inches from a white background. Strips of nylon rip-stop were taped to each head of two 580EX flashes, which were placed two inches away on either side. Extra lighting (the gold-colored bits toward the bottom) was accidentally provided by the fiber-optic light guide used for focus assistance.

Where in the world is Jay Barnes?
Jay, I miss seeing your great macro work. Hopefully someday you'll be able to get back to doing one of your great passions.

Truly an amazing shot!
Truly an amazing shot!

Yes, Outstanding!
Do we want to use the words "dorsal" & "ventral" instead of "anterior" & "posterior"?

Thanks
Do we want to use the words "dorsal" & "ventral" instead of "anterior" & "posterior"?

Only if we want to be accurate when describing appendages. :-)

Thanks for the call-out. Descriptions updated.

Wow!
I thought about doing something similar. But, after seeing this??
Forget about it!! Nice job as always, Jay.

Decent?
I call it incredible!

Thanks!
Thanks Beatriz :-)

....
That is just un-freaking-believable!!
