Aphids - Chaitophorus

Aphids - Chaitophorus
Near the Bow River, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada
August 23, 2007
Size: 2 mm
Aphids being tended by ants on the underside of leaves of what appears to be a type of willow.

Moved from Aphids.

The worker Ant...
is a Formica of the fusca group (a brown, rather than black, species, hence by no way F. fusca herself).

Thanks Richard!
I didn't think that the ant would get identified. I do have another photo of the same group with the ant in better focus; perhaps I should post that as well.

If you have a shot that would confirm the ID of the host plant, that would be useful.
