Northern Green-striped Grasshopper - Chortophaga viridifasciata - male

Northern Green-striped Grasshopper - Chortophaga viridifasciata - Male
Near Penny's Bend Reserve, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
April 20, 2005
Size: 24 mm
I tried and tried, but the only way to get a photo of the wing was to sacrifice the specimen and pin it. Note the hindwing: pale yellow on the inside, smoky on the outer margin. This helps to distinguish this species from Arphia sulphurea, which is supposed to have a bright yellow hindwing and a well-defined dark outer margin.
