Mayfly - Callibaetis pretiosus - female

Mayfly - Callibaetis pretiosus - Female
Harvard, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
July 6, 2004

Thanks Lloyd
This one patiently awaited your expertise for 4 years and was handsomely rewarded with a name:-)

Callibaetis
I believe this is C. pretiosus. Although the female imagos are somewhat similar to C. ferrugineus (both have the uneven rear border to the dark forewing vitta, often have a dark area at the base of the hindwing, and may have other dark markings in the wing), the dark 7th tergite is one of the more distinctive traits of pretiosus females.

Thanks for the id!

Callibaetis
Callibaetis female. Not sure of species (they tend to be difficult to identify)
