Sympetrum corruptum - male

Sympetrum corruptum - Male
Torrey Pines State Researve, San Diego County, California, USA
December 14, 2007
Found this dragonfly while hiking around Torrey Pines State Reserve, CA last week. Any dragonfly experts out there what to take a guess on a species identification?

Moved
Moved from Arthropods.

We would suggest
male Sympetrum corruptum. See

Thanks!!
I was way off on my tentative family identification and sex! In my defense, I live in Iowa and am not used to seeing such large Libellulidae up close. ;-)
