Anthrenus fuscus, i believe
*

American wildlife!
I can tell this does not look like one of the household cosmopolites . . .

I've never seen this pattern before.
I found no close match at dermestidae.com. Can it possibly be some unusual pattern varient of a more common species?

unusual pattern?
Maybe. But seems unlikely to me, most European species are much less variable.
Dermestidae.com has but 2/3 of the American species . . .

2/3 is a lot of
North American species unaccounted for. But I guess that's to be expected, since it's a European site after all, and its focus would be more European species though it's "Dermestidae of the world".

2/3 is pretty good!
And beyond expectations for a privatly held site. I know of no site showing a larger proportion of any beetles family world-wide representation. I personally know the owner, and he can only show what he has in his collection, or what was submitted for ID, or what is present in museums he already visited. Sure his contacts are in Europe mainly . . .
