Grape Leaffolder Moth For Illinois In September - Desmia funeralis

Grape Leaffolder Moth For Illinois In September - Desmia funeralis
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
September 13, 2007
Data posting for this species in Illinois, for the month of September.

This fills a hole in the data map for Illinois. That's reason enough to post it.

The prominent white patch
on top of the head used to be considered a feature of Desmia maculalis but Bob Patterson reports here that it's not a reliable characteristic (according to Brian Scholtens) in distinguishing between funeralis and maculalis, so I think we'll have to lump the two species together at BugGuide.
