Codling moth caterpillar - Cydia pomonella

Codling moth caterpillar - Cydia pomonella
Atlantic Mine, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
October 15, 2007
Size: 15 mm
I'm pretty sure this is a codling moth caterpillar, _Cydia_pomonella_. I found it in an apple from one of the trees in our yard in the middle of October. It was in the center of the apple with the seeds. The graph paper is a 1 mm grid.

You're right in your identification. The two shots manage to catch the pinnacula on the ninth abdominal segment sufficiently to make an assessment. The size and color are also consistent with Codling Moth (Cydia pomonella)
