Maybe 1799 - Coleotechnites chilcotti - female

Maybe 1799 - Coleotechnites chilcotti - Female
Marlton, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA
June 6, 2007
Size: Maybe around 12 mm?
Brick red and gray striped moth. Black and white striped legs. Antenna base may have stripes (or little horns?), but the rest appears long and solid black. Little tufts all along wing. I went all the way around MPG.

Similar to 1799 - Coleotechnites chilcotti

Thank You!
Do you feel I should request a guide page? Other than your qualified suggestion, I have no guess. I think it looks like a great match! I just wanted to know if you think it could be anything else, or go ahead?

Looks at the Exoteleia on SangMi's Plate at MPG.....
...there are three more possible candidates shown there (although I still like the Coleotechnites better). Consider also that we do not yet have photos of all the Coleotechnites -- two adjacent numbers are missing -- and some of the missing species might also look something like this one.

I have poor photos of a worn specimen taken July 12th at my home in Bowie, Maryland that look much like your moth. I'd love to give it a name. But I am too uncertain to do so at this time.

The best thing to do might be to file it at the subfamily level for now; Gelechiinae.

Spring
There are so many things I want to get better images of, I can't wait for the spring! This one and Thaumatographa jonesi are on the top of the list. Thanks again.
