Probably not a tortoise beetle. Is it even a chrysomelid? Note the antenna ends.

Great to get some of these long-timers (for me, a relative neophyte here) pigeonholed.

no Chrysomelid I know of has clubbed antennae, although the body shape is certainly like a tortoise beetle. I'm stuck in the city without my references so can't help much. do any of the coccinellids have body pubescence?
