Size: ~ 1 mm
A tiny shiny black fly. Arista are quite long (not really visible here). Any help with family placement? (Taken in Lindgren funnel trap.)

Drapetis, male (IN)
A tachydromiine empid.

Great!
More of an ID than I had hoped for. Thanks!

What about something in Empid
What about something in Empididae?

Sounds right
When I attempted to key it, it seemed to either be Empididae or Pipunculidae (Chalarus). Head doesn't seem large enough for the latter, so I agree that Empididae would be right.
