Size: 10 mm.
This is one of the species that bores in Mormon Tea (Ephedra). The inverted "U" shaped maculation mid-elytra is common on most of the specimens in my series.

I've collected it on Lupinus in the San Jacinto Mtns., CA, also in June.

 
The adults will visit flowers
The adults will visit flowers. I have also collected on Eriogonum, but the larval host is Ephedra.
