Face view showing relationship between labrum, mandibles, maxillary palp; the unlabelled lowest palp is the labial palp

Excellent!
Now entered as a thumbnail for glossary entries under:
-mouthparts
-mandible
-labrum
-palpi

We've needed such a labeled diagram for a long time--thanks very much!

others
while not mouthparts, this photo might also be used for "clypus" and "front". Excellent photo BTW!

additional structures
that might accomodate labels in this beautiful photograph are:
"scape" (basal antenna segment), "gena" (cheek), "seta" (bristle), and "setigerous puncture" seen on labrum.
Consider "Frons" instead of ambiguous "Front"; "Clypeus" is the correct spelling.

Thanks for the correction,
would "vertex" (of head), and "occiput" be appropriate also?

vertex, occiput
"Vertex" might just make it in this photograph but I believe the farther posterior "occiput" is cut off.

Amazing picture!
What kind of camera set up are you using? I have not really looked for any tiger beetles since moving from Maryland to Maine but I will have to try and get out more. Our fauna is probably similar to yours.

Welcome back Frank
This shot is a stack of about 15 images. Stacked with Helicon Focus. If you can get a rigid set-up with rhe ability to move the camera (or subject) in very small forward increments (in the less than 1mm range) then I highly recommend HF. Different lens combinations give different magnifications.
