yellow-spotted wasp - Scolia

yellow-spotted wasp - Scolia
Falcon State Park, Starr County, Texas, USA
January 12, 2008
This wasp walked over the Damiana plant for at least 5 minutes.

What a beautiful shot
Looks like it might be a scoliid wasp

Yes, a female...
Scolia sp. This white-spotted species is new for BG, although obviously close to Scolia bicincta.
