Moved from Nursery Web Spiders. We'll move this up in the guide until we find some similar images that help with the ID. They are cute little beauties!

She may be long gone -
was there any sign of an egg case in any of your images?

Was
this actually in a nursery web? I have never seen nursery web spider hatchlings, but orb weavers are often this color and congregate in the same manner.
Anything you might remember about web and egg sac may be useful.

Thank-you
Jeff, and John and Jane, thanks for commenting. This is a cropped image but I went back and examined the original and there is no sign of egg sac remnants, mother spider, or any indication of the structure of the web.

Next time I see something like this I will aim to be in less of a hurry and see what other evidence I can find!
