James P. Kramer. 1983. Taxonomic study of the planthopper family Cixiidae in the United States (Homoptera: Fulgoroidea). Transactions of the American Entomological Society 109(1): 1-57.

Abstract:

This study completes the first taxonomic revision of the planthopper family Cixiidae in continental United States. Thirteen genera and 172 species are recognized. A key to all 13 genera is presented.

Four genera, Cixius Latreille, Myndus Stål, Oecleus Stål, and Oliarus Stål, were recently revised by the author, and appropriate references are made to these other studies. Species of the remaining 9 genera are treated here.
